Mason Fong, CEO
Mason is the CEO of Silicon Valley Strategies, a premier private consulting based in the Northern California Bay Area firm advising technology companies, residential and commercial developers and businesses on RFPs, procurement, permits and entitlements, and policy changes in the CA Northern California Bay Area. Mason has strategic partnerships with other firms in Southern California and Sacramento as well to provide full service in CA.
Mason previously worked as the Government Affairs Strategist at a future Unicorn startup, Peregrine Technologies, based in San Francisco. Mason is in charge of developing and implementing company wide government relations strategies for approaching government clients in procurement processes including but not limited to business development pitches, navigating bureaucracy, launching evangelist campaigns and more.
Prior to this role, Mason was appointed by California Governor Gavin Newsom to serve as his Northern California Deputy Regional Director of External Affairs. In this role, he was responsible for managing external engagement for the Governor across more than 30 California Counties from the Bay Area to the Oregon border.
Prior to his appointment, Mason served in various public policy and community liaison roles for two members of Congress, a San Jose Vice Mayor and San Jose Councilmember, and two Chambers of Commerce. He was also elected in 2018 as the youngest Councilmember to the Sunnyvale City Council and only the 3rd Asian American in the City's history.
Public service runs in Mason's blood as his father served as the first Asian American legislative staffer to the first Asian American San Francisco Supervisor, former Supervisor Gordon Lau, and his mother served as the first planner at the now San Francisco Chinatown Community Development Center (CDC). Mason's mother also served as an appointed staffer by former Governor Jerry Brown in the Office of Planning & Research and worked on several public policy initiatives including preserving the Alien Files at the National Archives. His relatives have also served as appointed and elected representatives for former Presidents as well as local cities and school boards.
Mason received a B.A. in Urban Studies and Planning from UC San Diego with a minor in Political Science after transferring from De Anza College.
In his free time, Mason enjoys playing basketball, attending comedy shows, and taking his husky to the dog park.
